"Asking and accepting?"

The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer is one of my favourite TED Talks, not to mention one of my favourite books. I've always had an issue with asking, and as for accepting...well! Amanda completely changed my view towards asking for help, and I'm so glad she did.

If I didn't ask for help, this website wouldn't be what it is. In fact, it might not exist at all...and it certainly wouldn't be paid for until 14/09/17!

That's right, yesterday I switched to an annual plan to pay for the website for an entire year. Here's the thing; I don't have £100 going spare to drop on the website. So I asked, and I accepted. A few of you will know that for the last couple of weeks I've been running a fundraiser to secure the future of the website.

Well, thanks to the generosity of a few wonderful individuals, we met the target last night.

Because of this I could call an end to website related "asks" until next September. However, I've made the decision to leave the donation facility active, because it will allow me to expand what the website has to offer. For example, if I raised enough I could have cards printed with my 5-step "In case of relapse" plan and ship them out to people for a small donation to cover postage. Or I could have a batch of wristbands created, and again, ship them out for a small donation.

There is no shame in asking. If you don't ask, it's highly unlikely that you'll get what you need. Keep asking. Keep accepting.
