"Who is your biggest inspiration?"

So this is a pretty fun question because I admire o many people for their work in mental health.

However, my biggest inspiration? Robin Williams, without a doubt. I grew up with Flubber and Jumanji, and when I was older, Good Will Hunting and Patch Adams became possibly my favourite films of all time.

Robin Williams never hid his struggles with alcoholism, drug abuse, and mental illness. He talked openly, and I think his experiences made him an incredibly strong actor in roles that addressed mental illness. There's no doubting that everybody loved him, be it for his comedy, his acting, his openness, or all three.

It's his openness that inspires me to do what I do. Robin was very much in the public eye, and if he can be open about his experience, why can't I? Yes, he reached more people, and that will always be the case. However, every person helped is a success story.

My heart broke when Robin Williams died. However, it's because of him that I'm going to resolve here and now to never stop fighting for people living with mental illness.

You must strive to find your own voice because the longer you wait to begin the less likely you are to find it at all.
